This module presents a fusion of linguistic and analytical competencies to allow students to build on the subject expertise acquired in previous Language for Commerce modules and explain the significance and relevance of that knowledge. Through the interrelation of comprehension, speaking, listening and writing, students on the module will develop their understanding and expertise in the Spanish language, with specific reference to key debates in the Spanish-speaking world. Speaking will not be directly assessed in semester 1, but oral debate, conversing and expressing complex ideas in the target language with reference toon the module’s topics will assist with the end of term written assignment, as well as pre-pare students for the format of the oral exam at the end of the second term. The module will build on knowledge acquired in previous Language for Commerce modules to prepare students for expressing ideas in sophisticated written Spanish and being able to translate both from Spanish into English and from English into Spanish.
