Description
This module provides the student with an opportunity to get real-world experience working in the field of public history and heritage. It will enable the students to apply what they have learned into practice. Students can choose to work with a museum, archive, production company, historic house, or any other organisation that engages the public in the past. We can provide the students with a placement, or they can choose their own. The practical element of this module will ask the students to think critically and evaluate how history is delivered to the public. It also expects the students to contribute theoretically and creatively to a public history project that is decided between the organisation and the student.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
demonstrate experience of working within the field of public history and heritage;
write critically about interpreting, communicating and presenting the past to the public;
