The relationship between Indigenous peoples and settler societies has been problematic wherever colonization has taken place. In this course, students will study how these relationships have evolved over time with a view toward developing a historical understanding of contemporary issues. This term, the course will look at settler colonialism comparatively, theoretically, and through literature in order to assist students in developing a critical understanding of the relationship between various Indigenous and settler societies, past and present.
