Description This module builds on Translation and Creativity I to develop further the creative skills which translators need in order to thrive in the twenty-first-century language industry. It focuses on the practical application of human creativity in translation. Students will have the opportunity to produce a creative translation, drawing on digital and other resources in an ethical and sustainable manner, and will reflect on the development of their creative practice.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the Module, students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of translation as a cultural and creative practice
  • Produce a creative translation which utilises translation resources ethically and sustainably
  • Reflect on their own creative translation practice in a subtle and sophisticated manner
Assessment
Assessment Methods & Exceptions Assessment:
1500-word essay in which students discuss their own creative translation project and reflect on the creative process (100%).
