The Practical Project in Drama represents the culmination of study in Drama and Theatre Arts and allows students to engage in a practice research project of their own design, building on and extending the skills and interests they have developed throughout their degree.
Students will identify a research question, conduct contextual and theoretical academic research, and employ creative processes as research methods in their own right to practically interrogate the set question. Projects will be assessed for suitability and students will receive feedback on an Initial Project Proposal before the module begins. At the end of the module students will submit a piece of practice as a practical output of their research, as well as a written rationale that contextualises, frames and reflects on the project.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Design a research question and apply appropriate practice research methodologies to the project.
Apply appropriate modes of performance/technical realisation to the demands of the project.
Articulate and frame the project through a written piece, reflecting on the project's methodologies, insights and outcomes.
Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent theoretical/contextual/historical research and develop ways of interrogating it through practice.
