Description This module will introduce you to effective leadership approaches and strategies within the creative industries. Reflecting on your own developing leadership skills, you will consider those required to lead and inspire in this dynamic landscape. The module combines theoretical approaches to leadership with an exploration of practical examples, fostering your understanding of different styles, working with teams, and thinking in an entrepreneurial way. This could include artist management, as well as venue, event, project and organisational leadership.

Through case studies and interactive discussions, you will gain insights into the challenges that creative leaders face, effective decision-making strategies, and collaborative practices. The module will prepare you to be an adaptable, reflective and inclusive leader.

Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of leadership theories, styles and approaches applicable to the creative industries.
  • Analyse effective leadership approaches tailored to the specific challenges and opportunities within the creative sectors.
  • Reflect on and evaluate their own leadership skills, demonstrating self-awareness and the ability to select effective approaches to continue their own development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of inclusive leadership practices and the ability to lead and collaborate with others in a flexible and ethical way.
