Exclusions
Description This module introduces students to core subject learning and teaching and to some key whole school issues. University based sessions and school based practical experiences offer opportunities for students to develop their understanding and practice of teaching. One of the most important experiences is the planning and evaluation of learning experiences for small groups of early years or primary school students, supported by and exploration of the place of core subjects within national frameworks and initiatives and at least one area of cross-curricular and whole school concern. Students will draw on National Curriculum documentation, research findings and key texts in developing their reflective practice.
Learning Outcomes By the end of the module students should be able to:
  • Plan for, teach and evaluate learning experiences for small groups of early years or primary school students
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding the place of core subjects within national frameworks and initiatives
  • Demonstrate a deep, systematic and critical awareness of at least one area related to whole school issues
  • Demonstrate a reflective and evaluative awareness of some of the research relating to whole school issues.
