Programmes & Modules Handbook

The 60 credit dissertation enables students to undertake independent research into an area of professional interest which will allow them to investigate  an aspect of their Programme of study.  They will work with a tutor to determine a focus and to discuss issues of methodology and analysis.

By the end of the module students should be able to:

1. Use their initiative and self-direction to solve problems encountered during the research process;

2. Evaluate critically current research and advanced scholarship in their specialist field;

3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research methods applicable to their own research and utilise these as appropriate to produce a Masters level piece of research within their specialist field;

4. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the key theoretical standpoints within their area of research;

5. Complete an advanced research project using an appropriate method(s) within their specialist field.
