Description
Students work in schools developing the skills embedded in the Core Content Framework for Initial Teacher Training, as well as working and learning alongside expert colleagues. Students will plan and teach lessons of roughly half a normal teachers timetable as well as observe lessons and be involved in wider school experiences. This module is closely linked with the School Studies modules where the best available evidence underpinning of practice is covered to enable students to be able to reflect upon and critically analyse their practice.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate the professional behaviours expected of a teacher.
Apply knowledge of the central themes of behaviour management, pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and professional behaviours in planning and teaching pupils (in the 11-18 range).
Use reflective, analytical, and self-critical capabilities in the evaluation of planned and taught learning experiences to inform their teaching.
Apply a critical understanding of their subject within the school curriculum and use this to plan for learning in individual, and sequences of lessons.
Work with and learn from expert colleagues to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills, and be increasingly able to identify the next steps in their own professional development.
Critically draw upon a range of the best available evidence to support their practice.
