The exam is open book and will have a specific time when it needs to be undertaken. Since the candidates are in different time zones it may be a problem to open and close the exam sessions at a suitable time for everyone. In fact the exam period will be open for 24 hours and one can choose a 2 hour slot when to sit for the exam
This module will present and discuss the wide variety of materials used in Endodontology. For each material the chemical, physical, mechanical, antimicrobial and biological properties will be discussed. Furthermore, the specific characteristics and the optimal methods for handling and placing each material will be explored to prepare the student for different clinical scenarios. The restoration of the endodontically treated teeth using different methods will also be dealt with in detail as the inability to restore the teeth leads to treatment failure. The students will also have independent clinical sessions in their own practices to be able to practice the techniques they have learnt in this module.

By the end of the module students should be able to:
Have knowledge and understanding of the range of materials available and the properties of the different materials used for vital pulp therapy and how they should be used clinically
Appreciate the clinical protocols necessary to restore a tooth after vital pulp therapy
Know the material properties of NiTi and its relevance to endodontic therapy
Be able to use different methods to restore endodontically treated teeth
Know the properties of materials used for root canal obturation and appreciate the need of choosing the right material for specific techniques
Knowledge of the properties of restorative materials and bonding strategies.
