This module introduces students at M-level to a range of research skills needed to successfully complete the programme and develop employability skills, such as using university resources effectively; writing essays; and referencing and plagiarism. It will also address how to develop and write a dissertation proposal and dissertation research rationale.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module students should be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to successfully use key resources of the University of Birmingham and resources specific to the subjects of Art History, Curating and Visual Studies;
Demonstrate an understanding and appropriate use of academic apparatuses (including footnotes, bibliography, appendices and image captions);
Demonstrate advanced skills in identifying, synthesising and interpreting primary and secondary sources;
Identify and consolidate a viable research area for the dissertation;
