This module forms part of a major project which is worth 50 credits. The module comprises a study of the overall project, a search of the relevant literature, production of a project plan, and an assessment of good practice in carrying out the project, e.g. with evidence including note keeping.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the module the student should be able to:
Access background information in the relevant area of physics, via a study of the research literature, internal reports and web-based information;
Plan a project with due consideration to the relevant design criteria, critical path analysis, relevant milestones etc;
Prepare a coherent and carefully planned preliminary report to be assessed by the supervisor and team leader;
Demonstrate the ability to conduct a project in a coherent and ordered fashion, in particular display the ability to keep a laboratory notebook, attend meetings with the supervisor and think ahead during the conduct of the project.
